Residential Programs for Youth
Pahl House was founded in 1983 and joined Hudson Mohawk Recovery Center in 2007. Pahl House provides long term residential treatment services to adolescent males. Our mission is to restore health to chemically dependent individuals and their families and to foster personal responsibility in a supportive, therapeutic environment. We are a not for profit OASAS licensed facility. As such, we offer a sliding fee scale based on income and other financial considerations.
Pahl House, located at 106-108 Ninth Street in Troy, New York has the capacity to serve up to 14 adolescent males, age 13 to 18. Length of stay in the program is based on clinical need, but generally averages 6-9 months. Pahl House operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is staffed at all times with staff that are actively engaged and available to attend to client needs.
Treatment planning is highly individualized and targeted to suit each resident’s particular needs. The emphasis in treatment is on stabilizing crises, establishing abstinence, fostering family stability, developing healthy support systems in the community, and planning for continued abstinence in less structured environments. Professional staff include: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Medical Doctor, Recreation Therapist, Social Worker, and New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors.
Pahl Academy offers highly individualized education in a supportive academic environment for young people in residence at Pahl House. After admission, the Education Director tailors a learning plan to fit the student’s academic profile. Students may either pursue their High School Diploma or their GED, or college and vocational preparation if high school or GED has been completed. Instruction is provided by New State Certified Teachers.
